US-based provider of local listings, review management, and social media marketing solutions, Synup, has acquired Ahmedabad-based SAAS firm Clientjoy, an all-encompassing platform tailored for freelancers and agencies.

With the acquisition, Synup aims to expand their business suite for agency and reseller clients.

Founded in 2020, Clientjoy has successfully served over 16,000 clients spanning 90 countries. A multi-functional platform for both agencies and freelancers, the platform offers CRM capabilities, docu-signing, invoicing, appointment scheduling, email cadences, client-portal and more. With Clientjoy, agencies can manage their entire client life-cycle on one platform.

Ashwin Ramesh, the founder and CEO of Synup, said, ” We’re thrilled to announce our first major acquisition. This acquisition isn’t just about growth; it’s about expanding our capabilities and delivering value to our partners.”

Founded in 2014, Synup offers multi-location management tool for its listings management, reputation management, store locator, and social media management capabilities.

Yash Shah, co-founder and CEO of Clientjoy, said, “We’re excited to be joining the Synup team. We started Clientjoy with the vision of making life easier for agencies with a streamlined platform, and Synup shares that same crucial vision.”

The collaboration marks a new frontier for B2B SaaS companies. While being an all-in-one solution is a common phrase thrown around in the industry, Synup is taking the steps to embody that ideal.

“We’re redefining industry standards with this addition,” stated Ramesh. “We’ll be integrating Clientjoy’s features into our existing offering throughout Q1, and I’m thrilled to announce all of the exciting changes to come.”

Clientjoy is looking forward to the collaboration opportunities, too. With key members joining the Synup team, including co-founder and CPO Anupama Panchal, the offerings only stand to improve.

About the acquisition, Clientjoy co-founder and CPO Anupama Panchal said: “We dedicated a significant amount of time managing an agency and engaging with Clientjoy’s agency customers. Throughout our journey, we pinpointed various challenges and opportunities in the market that could be addressed through technological solutions. As we delved into the prospect of collaborating with Synup, it became evident that both parties shared a common goal of ensuring agency customers’ success. We are excited to be a part of the Synup family and look forward to contributing to the development of a brighter future for agencies.”

Besides the acquisition and joining of the two companies’ teams, they’re making no immediate announcements about the enhanced offerings. Following the announcement and joining of the two platforms, they’re planning to roll out more capabilities for all of their clients.

All your personal data is being sold for less than a rupee. In a fast growing data brokerage industry, it costs just Rs 15,000 to get details like name, age, address, income, etc, of 1 lakh people.

You Are Being `Sold’ For Less than a RupeeYour personal data, be it your residential address, your phone number, email id, details of what you bought online, age, marital status, income and profession, is all up for sale. Most of this personal data is sold for less than a rupee per person -the cost of a chewing gum.

The shocking facts are revealed by the Economic Times while they approached companies called `data brokers’, who hawk their services on online listings and sell personal information. ET posed as a prospective buyer.

From Rs 15000 onwards, personal data of about 1 lakh people can be offered through brokerage.

The lists up for sale are creative and granular. One data broker told ET that he could get lists of high net worth individuals, salaried people, credit card holders, car owners and retired women in any given vicinity.

From the list acquired by ET, they called a dozen people to verify the details. And to the horror of those people the data was correct. “It’s scary to say the least,“ said Hyderabad-based Rajashekar, who is among the list.

“It should be deemed as a crime. Without my permission, how can someone trade information related to me?“ said Bengaluru-based Nagaraj BK, who was appalled that details of his purchase of a gas stove on eBay.

Most of this data was sold by mobile service providers, agents from hospitals and banks, loan agents, car dealers to the data brokers.

Did Uber-Steal Google's Car Secrets-StartagistUber is being sued for stealing trade secrets and technology from Google.

Waymo, set up by Google owner Alphabet, is taking legal action against Otto, Uber’s self-driving vehicle unit that it bought last year for 700 m dollars. The lawsuit argues that former Waymo manager Anthony Levandowski took information when he left to co-found a venture that became Otto.

Uber said it took the allegations seriously and would review the matter carefully.

Otto co-founder and former Waymo manager Anthony Levandowski

The lawsuit alleges that Levandowski “downloaded 14,000 highly confidential and proprietary design files” during his time as a Google employee. “We believe these actions were part of a concerted plan to steal Waymo’s trade secrets and intellectual property,” Waymo said.

Alphabet created Waymo earlier this year as a way of bringing self-driving technology – which Google has been working on for years – to market.

The technology in question is LiDAR, a laser-based radar system that helps the self-driving cars “see” what is around them.

Money transfer company TransferWise has launched a new service that allows users to send money internationally through Facebook Inc’s chat application, as competition in the digital payments landscape intensifies.

Now you can transfer money using Facebook Messenger-StartagistThe London-based startup said on Tuesday that it had developed a Facebook Messenger “chatbot”, or an automated program that can help users communicate with businesses and carry out tasks such as online purchases.

TransferWise’s chatbot enables customers to send money to friends and family to and from the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia and Europe from Facebook Messenger. It can also be used to set up exchange rate alerts.

Facebook already allows its users to send money domestically in the United States via its Messenger app, but has not yet launched similar services internationally. TransferWise said its service will be the first to enable international money transfers entirely within Messenger.

Now you can transfer money using Facebook-Messenger-StartagistFacebook opened up its Messenger app to developers to create chatbots in April in a bid to expand its reach in customer service and enterprise transactions. Chatbots have become a hot topic in enterprise technology over the past year because recent advances in artificial intelligence have made them better at interacting. Businesses, including banks, are hoping that they can be used to improve and reduce the cost of their customer service operations.

One of Europe’s most well-known fintech companies, TransferWise was launched in 2011 by Estonian friends Taavet Hinrikus and Kristo Kaarmann out of frustration with the high fees they were being charged by banks for international money transfers.

The company, which is valued at more than $1 billion, is backed by several high profile investors including Silicon Valley venture fund Andreessen Horowitz, Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson, and PayPal co-founders Max Levchin and Peter Thiel, through his fund Valar Ventures.

Customers in more than 50 countries send roughly $1 billion through its website every month.

Now you can transfer money using Facebook MessengerWhile the TransferWise chatbot is now only available in Facebook Messenger it can be adapted to work with other popular chat services, Scott Miller, head of global partnerships for TransferWise said. He said the service would eventually be extended to work in other countries and money transfer routes that the company operates in.

The launch comes as competition in the mobile payments and international money transfer sectors intensifies. Earlier this month PayPal Holdings Inc announced its US payments application Venmo would be available within popular chat service Slack.

While in January , Ant Financial Services, an affiliate of Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd , said it would acquire U.S. money-transfer company MoneyGram, in a deal that is expected to shake up the international payments landscape.

YouTube Go launched. The android app will help users to save data while watching and sharing videos

YouTube Go is now available on Android-StartagistThe app allow you to choose whether you’d like to stream your selected videos immediately or download them for offline viewing in standard and low quality modes. You can also send videos to other YouTube Go users near you over a local ad-hoc Wi-Fi hotspot that won’t use up either person’s data.

YouTube Go is now available on Android-Startagist

YouTube Go was first announced back in September of 2016 with a promise that it would become fully public “early next year.” Essentially, it’s an offline and more social spin on the widely-used YouTube app – video previews load before downloading so that you can decide whether you’d like to watch or download that video, you can select the resolution and see how much space each resolution level will take before saving a video, and you can share your saved videos with friends via Bluetooth transfer.YouTube Go is now available on Android-Startagist

Judging from our brief interaction with the YouTube Go thus far, it seems to be possible to watch and download most YouTube videos. However, you’re restricted to basic or standard quality; no 1080p or even 720p here, folks.

YouTube Go is now available on Android-Startagist

During the initial phase, it requires you to enter your phone number and verifies it with a text in order to do some friend-finding later on, which is presumably similar to how Allo and WhatsApp operate. The verification process worked for Artem and Cody without a hitch, but Go refused to allow me to connect, even after multiple tries on multiple devices with multiple phone numbers.YouTube-Go is now available on Android-StartagistArticle Courtesy: Android Police

John Kelly, US Homeland Security Secretary

Kelly said the move could come as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to toughen vetting of visitors to screen out people who could pose a security threat.

He said it was one of the issues under consideration, especially for visitors from seven Muslim majority countries with very weak background screening of their own — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Kelley told the Homeland Security Committee at a hearing that, “we’re looking at some enhanced or some additional screening,”

“We may want to get on their social media, with passwords. It’s very hard to truly vet these people in these countries, the seven countries… But if they come in, we want to say, what websites do they visit, and give us your passwords. So, we can see what they do on the internet,” Kelly said.

US might ask visa applicants for social media passwords-StartagistAnyone who refused to cooperate would be barred from entering the U.S, he said. He made clear that no decision has been made, but tighter screening was on its way.

Kelly stressed that no decision had been made yet, but said tighter screening was definitely in the pipeline, even if it means longer delays for awarding visas to visitors.

“But over there, we can ask them for this kind of information and if they truly want to come to America, then they will cooperate. If not, next in line,” he said.

Kelly also took blame for the hasty rollout of President Trump’s executive order.

“I should have delayed it just a bit so I could have talked to members of Congress,” Kelly said. “Going forward, I would have certainly taken some time to inform Congress, and that’s something I look forward to in the future.”

US-might ask visa applicants for social media passwords-StartagistRepresentative Vern Buchanan, Republican of Florida, who has introduced one of the bills requiring social media information, called the Customs and Border Protection proposal “lame.” And the legislation is still pending in Congress.

“Collecting social media data will enhance the existing investigative process and provide D.H.S. greater clarity and visibility to possible nefarious activity,” the border agency said, referring to the Department of Homeland Security, its parent organization.

The proposal comes after Congress passed legislation on 2015 to add restrictions to the Visa Waiver Program.

The department said that while it does not consistently examine social media accounts of applicants for visas or immigration, it has a list of nearly three dozen situations in which social media can be examined to screen applicants.

Four pilot projects are underway in the department to examine the use of social media among applicants for immigration benefits.
