MP startup develops UV-C based portable tower to combat COVID-19 -Startagist

Aditsa Healthcare, a healthcare startup based out of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has developed a UV-C based portable disinfectant tower.

According to the company, the product AURA UVGI Tower is effective in combating the COVID-19 pandemic as it can disinfect an area in just 5 mins.

It can be used to disinfect hospitals, hotels, offices, shops, schools, malls, theatres, and public transport.

The product has already been tested and claims to have shown 99 per cent efficiency.

The startup has applied for the approval from Indian Council of Medial Research (ICMR).

“All the disinfection methods available in the market are using chemicals and are leaving a residue which can be harmful to humans and has a recurring cost. On the other hand, AURA UVGI Tower is chemical-free. We use UV type C lamps (also called germicidal lamps). Plus, our product is safe, effective and affordable,” Nitesh Argal, Co-founder of Adista, told Startagist.

How it works

Developed by Argal, Dr. Saurabh Shrivastava and Vaibhav Shrivastava, AURA UVGI Tower emits UVC light to zap bacteria, virus and other pathogens. A wavelength of around 253nm is emitted to destroy DNA of various pathogens by producing thymine dimers which can kill or deactivate the organisms.

“This level of irradiation has been proved effective in killing Coronavirus as well in many scientific studies,” Argal claims.

The product comes in three models ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs 45,000.

The company has set up units in 20-plus organisations, including Hajela Hospital (Bhopal)IBC (New Delhi)Saurabh Nursing Home (Bhopal) and Jajoo Law Chambers, among others
